Does Your Story Suck?

Today is a chance to rewrite your story.

It’s an invitation from the Universe to start anew without pressure or fear of failure.

To just begin again.

Instead of dwelling on what has come before, focus instead on uncovering and tuning into your inner intelligence, that special part of you that speaks with clarity when it comes time for making decisions about your life’s journey.

Developing mental clarity requires that you look closely at your thought processes and resulting emotions.

Here are 8 juicy tips to help you find the clarity of mind you need to rewrite your story and just begin again.

1 – Get In Touch with Your Inner Being

A silt-laden river that flows into the ocean is washed clean.

Similarly, your mind loses its limitations when it merges into the wholeness of open thoughtless awareness. Meditation is the river to get you there.

Time alone puts things into perspective. It allows you to look at opposing viewpoints. It reawakens your innate knowingness. It deepens your sense of the possible and reconnects you to your inner being.

Sit in the same place at the same time for 10 minutes or longer everyday. Empty your mind of its contents and breathe in appreciation for your life.

Getting clear about what you want requires stillness.

2 – Present Moment Awareness & Mindfulness

It’s very easy to get lost in negative thought loops about the past and future.

Mindfulness and present moment awareness opens the doorway to clarity.

Here’s how …

  • Focus completely on your immediate task and surroundings.
  • Watch how you tie your shoes.
  • Walk slowly with intention and mindfulness.
  • Notice and really taste your food.
  • Give others the gift of your attention.
  • Do everything impeccably and carefully.
  • Become aware of being aware.
  • Practice gratitude and appreciation.

3 – Clarity is a Decision.

Nothing brings you into the present moment like taking action.

Decide what you want to do and just do it now.

The word ‘decide’ comes from the Latin word decidere, which means, “to cut off from.” To make a decision, you must remove other potential directions.

If you are open to lots of different directions at the same time you can easily become confused.

Decide what you want and then pursue it with passion and energy.

When you commit yourself to one specific direction clarity is the result.

4 – Vision

You are responsible for creating your own clarity from within.

If you lack clarity then get busy creating it.

At the beginning of every year write a vision statement for each of the following categories:

  • Friends & Family
  • Experiences & Adventure
  • Work
  • Hobbies & Personal Expression
  • Self-Improvement
  • Giving
  • Spirituality

Try and make it as clear and specific as you can.

It could be about specific activities you’d like to do, income you’d like to earn, feelings you’d like to have or people you’d like to meet.

Be as sensory as you can.

Visualize and feel them in your body. Imagine feeling crystal clear about your life’s direction. What kind of people and circumstances would be in your reality? What would your surroundings look like if you were really clear about your life’s mission? Imagine how you would dress and how you would communicate with others.

Write out a positive affirmation for each category. Read the affirmation after your meditation.

Here’s mine for the giving category:

“I add so much value to other people’s lives, avalanches of abundance support my every need and desire.”

5 – 3 MITs

Wake up every morning to your 3 MITs. That’s: 3 “Most Important Things.”

These are the 3 things you’ll do that will get you closer to your larger goal.

Start with the hardest one first. This one exercise can move mountains.

“What is the most important thing I can do right now?”

If you are lost in what to do next in your day, stop and ask yourself this question.

The answer might not always be what you want to hear because the most important thing is often the hardest thing you have to do. This one question can help you check your priorities and stop you from getting lost in busy work like checking social media or inboxes.

6 – The Number One Mindset

Don’t take everything so seriously.

It’s all right. Everything is REALLY all right. You can’t get clear if you’re in a bad mood.

Whenever you feel like nitpicking or some other pettiness, ask yourself this question.

“Who cares?”

Asking yourself “Who cares?” is a fantastic way to lighten up and not take every thing so seriously.

This question allows you to be more open with yourself and the people around you.

It’s a simple way to let go and surrender control in your life.

When you lighten up clarity is the byproduct.

7 – Clarity Boosters

Being with clear, focused people whose goals and values are similar to yours will enhance your clarity.

Reading or listening to inspirational and motivational material will boost your mental clarity. Eating healthy foods will keep your mind sharp and alert.

8 – Consider Hiring a Coach

Like tennis players, many of us have blind spots. Sometimes we can’t see what’s keeping us stuck. A coach can help you flip the switch and uncover your blind spots that prevent you from moving forward in your life. A coach is like a wise friend you can go deep with.

Whether it’s old mindsets about money, relationships or health, we’ll work together to unravel and peel away the layers that hold you back and keep you from the success you deserve. We’ll work to uncover and un-condition old mindsets and beliefs that hold you back from your future self and highest potential.
