From Human Doing to Human Being: How to find Balance in a Busy World

Once upon a time, in a bustling city, there lived a little ant named Arnold.

Arnold was a very busy ant who loved to do things. He would run around all day long, gathering food, helping other ants, and generally being a very productive member of his colony.

One day, as Arnold was scurrying around, he came across a wise old grasshopper named Kenny. Kenny was sitting on a leaf, strumming his guitar and looking very relaxed.

“Hi there, Arnold,” said Kenny, “you seem like a very busy ant.”

“I am,” said Arnold proudly. “I love to do things. I’m always busy.”

Kenny smiled. “That’s great, Arnold. But have you ever stopped to think about being?”

“Being?” asked Arnold. “What do you mean?”

“Well,”said Kenny,” sometimes it’s important to just be. To sit back and relax, to take in your surroundings, to enjoy the moment.”

Arnold looked puzzled. “But what about all the things I need to do?”

“Of course, there are always things to do,” said Kenny. “But if you’re always doing, you may miss out on the important things in life.”

Arnold thought about this for a moment. He realized that while he was very good at doing things, he wasn’t very good at just being. He decided to take Kenny’s advice and spend some time each day just being.

He found a quiet spot in the colony and sat down. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He felt the sun on his face and listened to the sounds of the other ants around him. He felt a sense of calm wash over him that he had never experienced before.

From that day on, Arnold made sure to take some time each day to just be. He found that he was happier and more balanced than ever before. He was still a productive member of the colony, but he also knew the importance of taking time for himself.

The lesson that Arnold learned was an important one – that the balance between being and doing is key to a happy and fulfilling life.

Here are a few tips for finding that balance in your own life:

Schedule downtime – Just like you schedule time for work and other activities, make sure to schedule time for yourself to just be.

Try mindfulness – Practicing mindfulness can help you be more present and focus on the moment.

Embrace boredom – Sometimes it’s okay to be bored. Use that time to relax, reflect, and recharge.

Find balance – Make sure that you are not always doing and that you take time to be. Finding that balance will help you feel happier and more fulfilled.
